This is natural, but you should be aware the extra work and additions take extra time, and such changes may make it difficult for the contractor to stay on schedule. If you decide on some changes, make sure you ask your contractor how these changes will impact the completion date.”
“Don’t forget that extra work will most likely cost you extra money…your contractor will probably not throw in extra work free of charge…and you should always go to your primary contractor first. If you work out something with the workers or sub-contractors, such work could void and due warranties without a written change order as you have a legal contract with the primary contractor only. Additionally, if something goes wrong, you may not have any recourse with the contractor…if you arranged the extra work on the side. Always go through the proper channels if changes need to be made.”
